The Basics of Relationships in Human Design

When we are talking about how we connect with others, it’s so important to remember who you are and how you operate should always be focused on your design. So often we can get lost in who we are when we are in connection with others, when really our connection is just passage of information through us that allows us to see the other person and share moments together rather than become something different.

Your strategy and authority is the key piece that keeps you in alignment with who you are while you are connecting with other souls and maintaining a connection with your strategy and authority will save so a relationship from many issues.

Entering a relationship correctly can set the tone for the relationship. What this means is that a Projector needs be recognized and invited into the relationship, a Generator or Manifesting Generator responding, a Manifestor informing, and a Reflector waiting a lunar cycle. When starting a relationship on these terms we can recognize that we are starting them in our signature vs. our not self tendencies. That makes the relationship easier because the connection realizes who you are when you are operating correctly from the start vs. being attached to who you are when you are in the not self.

They key thing that we first look at is the not self in our own design. It shows us where we are dealing with our own problems internally and how we handle those problems that arise within our bodies. Remember that even a defined center can hold not self tendencies so looking at your not self theme as well as the not self in all the centers is a beautiful start.

Generators In Relationships

Generators and Manifesting Generators in a relationship might express an idea or possibility in a relationship but the key thing the remember is that it’s a question that need to be asked of themselves. Having the partner ask if that idea or possibility is something they actually want clears up whether the Generator or Manifesting Generator even wants to do the thing they expressed. In order for the relationship to thrive the Generator or Manifesting Generator then needs to respond with their authority and respond as themselves. In a relationship with a Manifestor a Generator or Manifesting Generator simply waits for the Manifestor to initiate with them, in order for them to respond.

Manifestors In Relationships

Understanding the way a Manifestor initiates and informs allows genuine compassion for a relationship. It is on them to create the first move and to approach. In a relationship they desire to be the one that takes initiative and pursue the other person. It makes them vulnerable to rejection which can create some hesitation in initiating at times. As soon as they are a capable of breaking free from the routines of tradition they are able to move forward. In a relationship the Manifestor will move through the day informing the other what they are doing, when they are available, and are not seeking a conversation but an acceptance of what they are doing. Mutually being informed by the other is a way to enhance respect in the relationship so that their authority can then decide what to do and how to inform of their role in what is happening. When in a relationship with a Generator or Manifesting Generator it is simply acceptance that they are seeking.
